Rejected petition: Allow a national poll to decide whether an early general election should be held

Rejected on

Create a mechanism allowing the public to trigger an early general election when confidence in the government is low, through a national advisory poll or similar democratic process.

Many voters feel that when public confidence in a government falls, there should be a peaceful, democratic way to demand change before the next scheduled election. Allowing the public to trigger an early general election through an advisory poll would increase accountability, encourage honesty in politics, and help restore faith in democracy. This would ensure the government truly serves the will of the people between elections.
