Rejected petition Cut MP Salary to save £m from the Budget each year
I want parliament to cut an MP's basic salary to £50'000pa. Currently MP base pay costs £61m per year, cutting as above would save £28.5m. It would also bring MP's into the real world where nearer to the £34k average salary

We're being told that the chancellor will need to make some difficult decisions - i.e. putting up taxes. MPs were the only Public Sector employees who didn't suffer frozen salaries by the Conservatives and have consistently received at or above inflation pay-rises while the rest of the country struggles to live. Parliament are meant to represent our best interests - if we're struggling to pay the bills, cut the outgoings! We all have - your turn.
