Rejected petition Require the Government to review pay and training costs for SIA officers
Security officers now handle first aid, safeguarding, and counter-terror duties equal to police standards. Yet pay remains low and many must fund mandatory training themselves. The Government must review pay fairness, costs, and retention to protect public safety.
More details
The Government regulates private security through the SIA. Officers now take on major public-safety duties, but each mandatory qualification or refresher often costs the individual, not the employer. Some firms help, many don’t. We call for a Government-led review of pay fairness, training costs, and retention so SIA-licensed staff are treated and supported as the vital public-safety professionals they are.
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Pay for SIA Officers is a matter for employers and the market (as long as they pay over the minimum wage).
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
