Rejected petition Safer, anonymous checksforpartners’abuse history are needed to better protect us
We need safer, anonymous ways to check a partner’s history of domestic abuse. Many survivors fear using Clare’s Law because it requires sharing personal details. A simple yes-or-no system would help people protect themselves without added risk or intimidation.
More details
Many survivors are too afraid to use Clare’s Law because it requires sharing personal and family details, creating fear of repercussions or involvement from social services. A safer, anonymous system is needed. Being able to enter a person’s details and receive a simple yes-or-no response about known domestic abuse history would empower people to protect themselves without added risk, fear, or intimidation.
