Rejected petition: Exclude Ancestry Visa Holders from the proposed amendments ILR rules

Rejected on

Specifically exclude ancestry visas holders holders from the planned amendments to ILR rules from 5 to 10 years.

The core purpose of the Ancestry route is to acknowledge and preserve the longstanding familial and cultural links between Commonwealth citizens and the United Kingdom. Ancestry visa holders are literally the grandchildren of British citizens—people with direct lineage to the UK’s own citizens. They are re-establishing connections with a country that has shaped their family history for generations. To delay their official integration through ILR would undermine the spirit of the visa.
