Rejected petition Ammend direct payments to enable carers who live with their relatives payment.

Ammend the policy for direct payments to allow carers who live with their relatives to receive direct payment wages.
Care provision from live in relatives is a working service to the relative, often throughout the day and night.
Live in carers can provide the best care options for relatives.

More details

Currently carers who live with their relative can not apply for a direct payment wage.

This inevetably forces the carer onto the benefit system for an unreasonable allowance.
(Eg 47p pr hour for a carer with a basic pension of £800 pr month.)

Parliment should consider the inclusion of live in carers to be allowed to apply for a wage from the direct payment system, for the care provision service they provide to relatives.

This will give live in carers employment status leading to income
