Rejected petition Do not increase the ILR(IndefiniteLeave to Remain)qualifying period for refugees
We ask the UK Government not to increase the ILR qualifying period for refugees. They have already been found at risk of persecution and harm. Extending the timeline would prolong instability, worsen trauma, and create safeguarding risks for vulnerable people.
More details
Refugees already recognized as at risk of persecution should not face longer uncertainty. Extending the ILR qualifying period prolongs trauma, destabilizes lives, and increases safeguarding risks. Timely settlement protects mental and physical wellbeing, enables integration, and honours the UK’s responsibility to shield those fleeing serious harm.
