Open petition: Review job hunting and interviewee rights
Created by Lucy Davies
Closes on
Review the current protective measures in place to support those seeking employment, which includes looking into a new legal requirement to include salaries for all publicly advertised roles, and that interview tests or trials do not incur more than 1 hour of unpaid input from the interviewee.
We also want the review to look into compensating interviewees for their time if it is more than 1 hour. It is current practice by many businesses to either not advertise salary or offer significantly lower than the market rate. Additionally, it's now very common for interview tasks or trials to either require significant amounts of time - 5 hours plus is common or sometimes for the work to then be used as part of the business without any compensation to the interviewee or acknowledgement of IP.
