Rejected petition Manifestos of political parties to become legally binding.

Manifestos to become legally binding documents so pledges that the public vote upon are upheld. The party leader being held accountable and receiving strict penalties for any manifesto violations. Any deviation, under extreme circumstance, to be agreed by all parties in parliament before proceeding.

More details

Currently political parties propose their manifesto in which they outline what their stance is on many state issues, clarifying what actions they would take if successfully elected.
Manifestos are the key factor to winning votes to gain power. However, political parties are under no obligation to keep to their promises and the majority of the time we see manifesto pledges broken.
By becoming a legally binding document, this will prevent any future deliberately misleading manifesto’s.
