Rejected petition Reconsider plans to retrospectively apply the 10 Years ILR New immigration Rule

We respectfully request that new UK immigration rules not be applied retrospectively. Many made life‑changing decisions in good faith, including COVID‑19 frontline workers. Please apply changes prospectively to uphold trust, fairness, and compassion.

More details

We respectfully urge the United Kingdom not to apply new immigration rules retrospectively. Many of us made life‑changing decisions in good faith, and during the COVID‑19 crisis we gave our all — some even their lives — to support this country. To change the rules after the fact would undermine trust and fairness, values that define the UK. We ask that policies honour both sacrifice and integrity by being applied prospectively only.
