The Secretary of State for Transport to reverse the decision from the Office of Rail and Road to run the 07.00 direct Manchester to London rail service as a ghost train.

The train is the fastest direct service from Manchester to London (just under 2 hours) it’s a great service for those needing to be in London for an early meeting, from mid December the train will run with no passengers (and a full crew) to allow it to be in London to be the 09.30 to Glasgow. Avanti Trains and the travelling public will be bemused by this decision to run a ghost train at a popular time and is a service which is paid for by the tax payer.

The rail regulator has reversed a decision that would have prevented passengers from taking an early morning "ghost train" service between Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston.
