Rejected petition Ancestry Visas should not be affected by the proposed earned settlement changes.
People who are resettling in the UK after a previous generation (British born and raised as per the Ancestry Visa requirements) left the UK, should not be penalised for wanting to return to the country of their family’s origin as is proposed in the current Earned Settlement White Paper.
More details
Ancestry visa holders should be exempt from the current White Paper proposal for earned settlement. If you hold an ancestry visa it is because you are a descendant of a British citizen and are returning to the country of your family’s origin. The requirements for this settlement route should not be changed/increased from what is currently required for this route.
