Open petition: Introduce a national information campaign informing expectant mothers about CMV

Created by Ellie Wheatley
Closes on

We want the Government to introduce a nationwide public information campaign to ensure all expectant mothers are informed about congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV), including how it is transmitted, how to reduce risk, and what support is available after diagnosis.

Congenital CMV is a leading cause of childhood disability, yet most expectant mothers aren’t told about it. Simple hygiene steps can greatly reduce risk, but low awareness leads to preventable infections and missed diagnoses. We want the Government to launch a national information campaign to ensure all pregnant women receive clear guidance on CMV, its risks, and how to protect their babies by risk reduction.
