Rejected petition Require prosecution of individuals who knowingly make false criminal allegations

We call on the UK Government to require police and CPS to prosecute individuals who intentionally make false allegations, including false claims of domestic abuse, rape, sexual assault. We ask for mandatory automatic referral to CPS, and penalties that reflect the seriousness of the harm caused.

More details

False allegations destroy innocent lives. They create real victims — people who are investigated, judged, and sometimes lose their children, homes, employment, mental health and reputation, despite having done nothing wrong.
Knowingly making a false criminal allegation is not a minor mistake. It is a deliberate act that can devastate families, damage children, and consume huge amounts of police and social-care resources. these cases are rarely investigated or prosecuted

Why was this petition rejected?

We can't publish petitions when the request is something that's already happening or something that has been announced since you started your petition.

We think your petition is covered by Government or Parliament action already. If you'd like something else, you could start a new petition clearly explaining what it is.

People can already by charged for perverting the cause of justice and wasting police time for making false allegations. We're therefore not exactly sure what further action you'd like to see. You can find out more here:
