Rejected petition: Do not abolish the long residence (10-year) route to settlement

Rejected on

Please reconsider the total abolishment of the 10-year long residence route to settlement for individuals who have been legally living and working in the UK for a significant amount of time.

I seek empathy and compassion from the Government/Parliament - to reconsider the abolishment of the long residence route to settlement for individuals who have been legally living and working in the UK for a significant amount of time (over 5 years/close to completing the 10-year qualifying period). Please consider the repercussions for individuals who are law-abiding, well educated, and have been contributing to the UK economy, whilst accruing time towards the long residence route. Thank you.
