Please discuss making knighthoods about what you actually picture a knight doing. It makes sense to recognise true courage in the face of real physical danger.
A lot of modern day knighthoods are largely about political contributions which are often controversial. I personally envision a true heroic act being recognised as far less controversial and more deserving too.
