Rejected petition Include serious case review reforms to the Family Court in CWS Bill

“CSCP CSPR Sara Sharif” identifies that the Family Court proceedings that placed her in the care of “a dangerous serial abuser of women and children” who eventually murdered her “were pivotal” the government has pledged to repeal the Presumption of Involvement yet no reforms appear in the CWS Bill.

More details

We call for effective change, the Family Court “decision had a powerful influence on professionals who subsequently came into contact with Sara..As a result, some of the unconscious and conscious red flags..were not recognised. The problem of perceptions of professional hierarchy driving practice has been well documented over several decades” yet there are no reforms in this Bill which spends money on and prioritises instead the CNIS register which the review states “would not have helped Sara”.
