Open petition: Fund more research into gynaecological health from current 2.4%

Created by Melissa Searle
Closes on

Only 2.4% of public research funding goes to women’s gynaecological health and childbirth. I would like to see this massively increased and much more importance placed onto it.

Women make up 51% of the UK population, yet so many continue to experience reproductive health challenges. Many women live with painful periods, fibroids, or ongoing pain with no clear diagnosis. These experiences are too often dismissed due to such little research, which desperately needs to be increased.

Addressing misogyny within the healthcare system is essential. When women’s pain is not taken seriously, the consequences can be severe and life-threatening.
