Rejected petition Constituencies should have an automatic local election when their MP defects.
I woukd like the house to accept that constituants voted to be represented not just by an MP but by mores of the parry to whom that member belongs. We should not be victims to defecting allegiances. It garners mistrust in politics and political consistency. We have a right to fair representation.
More details
In a time where there is growing division and mistrust in the system, the moving from one party to another for an MP can be a stark change in allegiance, support and priorities.
There is no real.way you can make an individual hold to goals their new party may not wish them to support (as we know the party whip generally guide the votes of its party MPs). It would be unethical for someone to gain a constituency under one set of interests only to represent priorities which undermine former ones.
