Open petition: Hold public inquiry into racial hatred in England since 2012
Created by David Woodhouse
Closes on
We think public attitudes have shifted amid a constant stream of misinformation about minorities and immigration, and that politicians, public figures and so-called "news" channels now lie with impunity.
We call for an inquiry into why racial hatred appears to be on the rise, and how the Government should tackle it
In 2012 we hosted the Olympics and displayed true British values of welcome and tolerance. Since then, in our view, Britain has become insular and xenophobic. We think individuals, so-called "news" organisations and social media have all been instrumental in the direct incitement of racial hatred, to the point where our national flag is widely abused on lamp posts in order to intimidate minorities. We need to address the root cause of this shift in public "values" before it's too late.
