Rejected petition Scrap interest on student loans

I believe that university loans should not have an interest rate applied to them, or should have lower rates. Too many young people are refusing higher education due to its sheer cost and potential for debt. Therefore, I want the government to reduce or scrap interest rates on student finance loans.

More details

As a sixth form student, I know myself and my others have had to rethink our higher education over financial cost. For a loan that comes directly out of a pay-check, so many people are never able to pay it off. With tuition now rising every year, university is becoming more and more unaffordable for even well off students. While I understand the economical reasoning behind interest, a loan you take out at 17/18 with little to no choice should not have to damage you financially as an adult.
