Open petition: Recognise OET as proof of English language skills for naturalisation
Created by Ahmed Dawud
Closes on
We urge the Government to recognise OET (Occupational English Test) as proof of proficient English, skills for applicants who have done this test for the purposes of their healthcare worker visa, when applying for citizenship
We believe this will align the English language requirements across many healthcare professions’ professional registration, long-term settlement (ILR), and citizenship (Naturalisation).
The OET is a high-level English test already accepted by many healthcare bodies for the Skilled Worker Visas. Excluding it from Naturalisation is an unnecessary inconsistency. We think this forces highly skilled healthcare migrants to take a redundant, costly second test despite having proven their proficiency to practise medicine in the UK.
