Rejected petition Change the law on intestacy rules

I would like the law around intestacy rules to change, I feel that a lot of people don't realise how this law can affect people's lives.
A half brother, sister, aunt who has known the deceased person may be excluded due to finding a person who did not know the deceased existed classed as full blood

More details

I feel that the law is outdated and wrong that someone who never knew a deceased person existed can come before the people who have loved and taken care of said person all their lives.
Half blood Aunt who brought up the deceased could lose out to a full blood decendent who knows nothing about the deceased.
If this is the case I'm sure most people would rather the government have it than a complete stranger.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand that you want to change how current intestacy rules work, but we're not exactly sure what change you'd like to see.

You could start a new petition explaining how you'd like them to be changed. For example you could start a new petition calling for half blood relations to be treated the same as full blood relations within intestacy rules. You could also start a new petition calling for knowledge of the deceased to be taken into account in some way within intestacy rules.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
