Open petition: Review comprehensive pain relief & sedation options for hysteroscopy
Created by Yasmeen Hussain
Closes on
We call on the UK Government to review the use of pain relief and sedation options to help ensure that women undergoing hysteroscopy are routinely offered appropriate options, including gas and air, conscious (partial) sedation, or full sedation where requested or clinically appropriate.
Currently, access to pain management options can vary widely across the NHS.
We believe women are frequently not fully informed about pain risks or available alternatives before the procedure. Some may be denied sedation altogether, even when they have previously experienced extreme pain or request it.
A review is needed to help ensure informed consent, respect for patient choice, and access to appropriate pain relief for all women undergoing hysteroscopy across the UK.
