Rejected petition: Reform Bereavement Payments to support children of divorced parents

Rejected on

I petition the government to update the Bereavement Support Payment criteria. The current system fails children whose parents are divorced, as the benefit is tied to the spouse.

We propose a separate, automatic payment for surviving children to ensure they receive the financial security they deserve following the loss of a parent, independent of the surviving spouse's status.
