Open petition: Ban MP pay rises in any year with income tax rate rises or frozen thresholds
Created by Alistair Wylde
Closes on
Change the law so MPs’ salaries cannot increase in any year where income tax rates rise or income tax thresholds are frozen.
If income tax rates are frozen, raises should be adjusted accordingly.
If money is tight and has to be taken, the use of it should be proportional and not for benefit.
We believe our taxes should be used in a measured and proportional way, not wasted. If tax measures are taken that inhibit personal growth, ability to build, have children and a future then MPs can share in that burden and not get raises.
Reviews on spending, waste, use, investment should be carried out first and results published to justify a pay rise.
