Rejected petition: Stop the UK Government from assisting or taking part in military action on Iran
Rejected on
I want the Government to commit that the UK will not assist, support, or take part in any military action on Iran. Such action risks regional instability, civilian harm, and repeating past mistakes. The UK should prioritise diplomacy and lawful, peaceful solutions.
Rising tensions with Iran require a careful and lawful UK response. Military action without UN approval would risk major instability and repeat the mistakes of Iraq. There is no verified evidence Iran is developing nuclear weapons, and it says its programme is peaceful. U.S. intelligence previously stated that Iran “has halted its nuclear weapons program and has not mastered all of the necessary technologies for building such weapons”. The UK should prioritise diplomacy and independent judgement
