Rejected petition Want healthcare providers to listen to parents and take our concerns seriously.
Specifically, we are asking you to:
1. Acknowledge parental instincts as valid input in medical decisions.
2. Implement protocols to act promptly when a parent reports something is wrong with their child.
3. Ensure timely treatment so no baby suffers due to delayed care.
More details
Every mother knows her child best. Our instincts are powerful and rooted in love, care, and constant observation. Yet too often, those instincts are dismissed leaving babies without the care they need.
HG’s story is one of many. Despite raising concerns and noticing that something was wrong, the doctors dismissed our warnings. The treatment he needed was delayed, putting his health and his life at risk. No parent should have to fight so hard to be heard when it comes to their child’s well-being.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. There is already a right for patients, families and carers to request a rapid review if they are worried that a patient’s condition, including a child, is getting worse and their concerns are not being responded to. This is known as Martha's Rule: https://www.england.nhs.uk/patient-safety/marthas-rule/
We are not sure what changes you would like to see that are different from Martha's Rule, or from existing medical treatment.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
