Rejected petition Give heating-oil homes the same energy support as gas users

About 1.7 million UK households rely on heating oil, mostly in rural areas without access to the gas grid. These homes receive far less protection from energy price shocks than households using gas or electricity.

More details

Gas and electricity prices are regulated through the Ofgem price cap and supported by national schemes that apply broadly to households. Homes that rely on heating oil receive less protection and may only qualify for support if classed as vulnerable. We believe government energy support should treat households more equally regardless of the fuel used to heat their homes and regardless of income.
