Petition Fund improved hospital meals for pregnant women with gestational diabetes
Due to gestational diabetes, during my stay in hospital, despite the pressing need for a diet, tailored to maintain stable blood glucose levels, I was given meals that were causing my glucose levels to spike. This situation could have led to the unnecessary use of insulin drips and Metformin tablets
More details
Unfortunately, many hospitals seem ill-prepared to offer meals that adequately cater to this specific dietary need. The lack of proper meal planning leads to a heavier reliance on medication, which may not be ideal for all patients. By improving hospital meal plans to include options specifically designed for those with gestational diabetes, we could help reduce the need for medical interventions, improve health outcomes, and promote overall well-being for mothers and their babies.
