Rejected petition Free care in care homes for ALL dementia sufferers who need specialist care.

Change the unfair criteria that currently states people have to pay for their own healthcare when suffering with dementia. It should be free for everybody with this awful illness (especially if they’ve paid £10,000’s in tax already in their life), & not simply dependent on how much money they have.

Currently, dementia sufferers with savings have to pay over £1,500 weekly for specialist care.It’s punishing families for being good with money! Dementia is a cruel illness, resulting in people not able to do things for themselves, so a care home becomes their only hope. Why should families have to pay for such healthcare? Families are being fleeced! It should be free; it’s a health need, not a choice! Look at the amount of money that is wasted elsewhere that could fund this change!
