Open Ban the practice of co-option onto local councils

I believe co-opting members of the public onto local councils can limit democratic participation. We feel it is important that members of the public have the opportunity to vote for who they want to represent them. Elected members should also receive appropriate compensation for their service.

I believe the Government and Parliament should ensure democratic processes are upheld, giving all communities the right to elect their representatives. This could strengthen fairness and representation in our political system.
