Rejected petition Defend and Uphold the United Kingdom’s Christian Foundations.
We ask the Government to uphold and defend the UK’s Christian foundations by affirming the constitutional role of Christianity, protecting Christian belief and institutions in law, and safeguarding its place in public life, education, and national identity.
More details
Christianity has long shaped the UK’s laws, liberties and moral framework, yet its place in public life is increasingly marginalised. This risks weakening the nation’s constitutional and cultural foundations. We believe the Government has a duty to act now to uphold, protect and preserve this inheritance for future generations.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
There are no Government proposals to change the constitutional role of the church, nor the ability of churches or other Christian communities to sponsor schools. Freedom of religious belief is protected by the Human Rights Act and the Equalities Act.
You could start a new petition setting out what specific action or change in the law you would like the Government to take or make.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
