Asthma is a lung disease. Approximately 4.3 million adults in the UK are currently receiving treatment for asthma, which equates to roughly 1 in 2 adults. The UK has some of the highest asthma prevalence and death rates in Europe.
Presently, prescriptions for medication are not free.

Asthma takes the lives of 4 people every day - 2 out of 3 of these deaths are preventable, usually by taking preventative inhalers,which, for some people are not free on prescription.
Over 41,000 emergency hospital admissions for adult asthma occurred in England in the year ending 2024.
Other potentially life limiting diseases are taken more seriously and prescriptions for diabetes and even thyroid disease are free for everyone.
We would like to see free prescriptions for everyone with Asthma.
