The law targets Palestinians under military courts while Israeli citizens are tried in civilian courts, creating a two-tier system of justice widely criticised as discriminatory. The UK has previously taken action in response to human rights violations in other contexts. This raises serious questions about consistency. Failure to act where thresholds are met would require clear justification and risks undermining confidence in the UK’s commitment to human rights and the rule of law.
