Rejected petition: Reduce Fuel Duty on Petrol & Diesel During Disruption in the Strait of Hormuz
Rejected on
We ask the Government to temporarily reduce fuel duty on petrol and diesel until the current disruption in the Strait of Hormuz and the wider conflict involving Iran are resolved, and global oil shipping routes return to normal.
The reduction in fuel duty would help
Ease financial burden on households during a period of international crisis
Support businesses, logistics operators, & essential workers who rely on road transport
Stabilise costs while global shipping routes remain disrupted
Protect economic activity until normal oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz resume
This would provide short‑term relief during an exceptional geopolitical situation & could be reversed once oil shipping and pricing stabilise.
