Rejected petition Government to fund a new children's playground in Westbrook, Thanet, Kent.

We ask the Government to allocate playground funding to Thanet District Council to build a safe, accessible play area in Westbrook. Councillor John Edwards has already submitted a formal funding application to the Government. We ask Parliament to support and prioritise this application.

More details

Westbrook/Westgate is a densely populated area with many young families, yet the nearest playground is over a mile away across a busy road. Existing playgrounds at Hartsdown and Tivoli have issues with litter, broken glass and antisocial behaviour. Thanet District Council has a £1 million budget shortfall and cannot fund this alone. A local playground in Westbrook would support children's physical health, mental wellbeing and community cohesion — all recognised Government priorities.
