Rejected petition: Vote to abolish the UK monarchy & change to a true & secular democratic republic
Rejected on
MPs should properly debate about the monarchy, the alternate types of government available & changing flag designs, symbols, names etc. Facts should given out to the public. When ready, have a referendum on changing to a true & secular democratic republic, with an elected ceremonial head of state.
Citizens should vote on the future of the type of government they want to have. It's time we became a true & secular democratic republic. It's long overdue. Modernise & improve the system, reduce corruption, more diversity, naming things & places that are related to the people & areas, have a more progressive government etc. MPs should also debate about staying with a parliamentary system or change to a federal system or have have a mixed system or other alternative types of government systems.
