Abolition of the Monarchy would mean that money would be saved for other uses and bills would no longer need royal assent and could pass straight in to legislation.
Abolishing the UK monarchy requires a parliamentary act following a referendum, potentially replacing the King with an elected head of state. It would also mean that there is more of a democracy than we have at present. The king is not democratically elected and could be seen as a dictator.
Why was this petition rejected?
