Rejected petition: Suspend all Fuel Duty and cap pump prices to prevent profiteering.

Rejected on

Suspend the 52.95p/litre fuel duty for 6 months and mandate a pump price cap. This must ensure 100% of the tax saving reaches drivers, stopping retailers and oil companies from raising margins or absorbing the duty cut during the current global volatility and shipping disruptions.

Fuel prices (Diesel ~191p) are hitting record levels due to the Iran conflict, driving up the cost of living. Existing small duty cuts are being swallowed by market rises. The Government must act to lower costs and strictly regulate prices to ensure the public benefits, not oil company profits. This intervention is vital for commuters, businesses, and food prices while shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz remain closed.
