Open petition: Review endometriosis surgery protocols
Created by Jorja Wylie
Closes on
The Government should review endometriosis surgery protocols. We believe that currently, many women are made to wait for more than a year after their surgery to establish the diagnosis. We think an excision surgery should be offered directly after a diagnosis has been made as a national standard.
In our view people can wake up from surgery and be told they have deep infiltrated endometriosis and they need to go back and plan surgery, when in reality they could have an MRI scan and expect a full day surgery where excision to remove the endometrial tissue is also removed. We do not think it is fair that women’s organs get messed with waiting for surgery for many months, waiting to get endometriosis removed. This is not fair on women’s body’s, life and mental health. Endometriosis should not be left to grow and grow and disrupt people’s lives.
