I want the Government to update school attendance regulations so that parents are allowed up to five authorised term‑time holiday days per school year without receiving fines. This would give families a small amount of flexibility to manage rising travel costs, work schedules, and family wellbeing.
Many families are struggling with the current rules around term‑time absences. Travel costs during school holidays have risen significantly, making family breaks unaffordable for many people. Parents who work in sectors with fixed or limited annual leave often cannot take time off during peak periods, leaving them with no realistic option other than term‑time travel.
