Menstruation is not a choice, and managing a period should never be a financial burden. Sanitary products are essential, not luxury items. Yet many people are forced to go without them.
No one should have to pay for a biological necessity.
I want the UK Government to introduce legislation and funding to make essential sanitary products available free of charge in shops and supermarkets across the UK. This should include a government-funded scheme that allows people to obtain basic menstrual products, such as pads and tampons, at no cost, as these are essential necessities and should be treated like other basic health needs.
