Open petition: Stop changes to tariffs on stainless steel imports due to come into effect 1/7
Created by Jonathan Patrick Taylor
Closes on
We want the government to stop the changes to tariffs on imported stainless steel coming into effect in July 2026
We believe that if this comes in it to effect, it will destroy manufacturing in large and small business throughout the UK. In our view, this has been brought in to force people to buy British stainless steel, which may be a great idea but the UK does not produce enough stainless steel. Therefore we believe that us manufactures have no choice but to buy it from overseas. These tariffs will mean a 100% price increase on our material costs which we believe in effect will price UK manufacturers out of all markets here in the UK as well as exports
