Rejected petition: Stop restaurants and bars from adding service charges themselves

Rejected on

Automatically imposed service charges turn a good experience into an awkward one. Tipping should be the customer’s choice, not assumed. The UK is not the US: we have strong minimum wage and employment laws to protect service workers without mandatory charges

I want the government to make it illegal for bars and restaurants to add service charges themselves.
