Rejected petition: Accelerate introduction of GB pet passports or make getting an AHC easier
Rejected on
Accelerate GB pet passports before 2027 or reform AHCs. Allow multi-trip use, extend validity to match rabies vaccination, and cap costs. Make the process simpler, cheaper and proportionate for UK residents travelling with pets.
Around 280,000 pet trips occur yearly between the UK and EU. New rules now require costly, single-use AHCs (£100–£300), strict timelines and added admin, introduced with almost no notice. This risks reducing EU tourism, disproportionately impacts owners during a cost of living crisis, and places further pressure on vets already facing a mental health crisis, limiting access to care for all pets.
