Open petition: Review shared care arrangements for ADHD between NHS and private specialists
Created by Kirby Beresford
Closes on
Review shared care arrangements for ADHD where a patient has been diagnosed and stabilised by a qualified specialist, including appropriately qualified private specialists and via the Right to Choose pathway, to ensure consistent access to medication and continuity of care by the NHS.
We believe that many ADHD patients who seek private diagnosis to avoid long NHS waits, or access care via the Right to Choose pathway, are later refused shared care by their GP. This may force patients to pay privately or stop medication abruptly, which NHS guidance advises against. In our view this creates inequality, financial hardship, and risks patient safety, and a consistent national policy is needed to ensure fair access to treatment.
