Rejected petition: Take urgent action to improve our Mental Health system. Our country is in CRISIS.
Rejected on
We need more money and support from our Government to improve our mental health services. Waiting times for support is too long and people who need urgent life threatening support are being left behind. This NEEDS to change and NEEDS to be taken more seriously. The system is a disgrace.
Too many people are struggling with their mental health and are not being taken seriously. 18 weeks is the average wait time to recieve proper support in this country for MH. Most doctors will shove people on tablets and the wait times to have threapy can be 3/4months. People are being left to suffer, we are not being taken seriously as a country for this MH crisis. Too many precious lifes are being taken because they are being dismissed for the proper support they need. The system is broken.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about mental health services, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do in addition to - or differently to - what it is already doing.
In a statement on 27 March 2025, the Health Secretary said: "For 2025-26, mental health spending is forecast to amount to £15.6 billion. This represents another significant uplift in real terms spending on mental health - £320 million - compared to the previous financial year. Real terms growth in budgets will enable us to continue the rollout of our manifesto commitments, including recruiting 8,500 mental health staff, modernising the Mental Health Act, providing access to specialist mental health professionals in every school, and creating a network of community Young Futures Hubs."
