Open petition: Voluntary scheme for armed forces to assist civilian emergency services
Created by Liam Marshall
Closes on
I propose a voluntary scheme enabling armed forces personnel to routinely support emergency services. Their skills could assist the police, fire services, and the NHS, helping to ease pressure, improve response, and strengthen overall service stability during times of increased demand.
Our emergency services must receive the full support they need to operate effectively. While there are ongoing assurances that improvements are being made, we think progress is not happening quickly enough. This is reflected in persistent challenges such as rising crime, incidents of arson, and the continued strain on the NHS. These issues affect communities daily and highlight the urgent need for meaningful, lasting change and faster, more visible improvements across all emergency service sectors.
