Open petition: Amend UK trade agreements with the Faroes to protest dolphin hunting & killing
Created by Capt. Garry Oates
Closes on
We call on the UK Government to review and amend trade agreements with the Faroe Islands. The Grindadráp involves driving dolphins and whales into shallow waters where they are horrifically killed. The practice goes against all marine mammal protection law in the UK.
We call on the UK Government to review and amend trade agreements with the Faroe Islands to ensure they do not inadvertently support the killing of dolphins. We want all imported fish products from the Faroes to be clearly marked as being from the Faroes and stating that it is not a dolphin-friendly product. Dolphins are protected in UK waters, yet this practice continues abroad in a country which is a UK trading partner. We believe UK trade policy should reflect strong animal welfare standards morals and public concern.
